CAPS
Why did I work so hard to become accredited in the CAPS program? After seeing my grandmothers
have to move into nursing homes when they longed to stay in their own homes, I realized that
would be impossible as their homes were not equipped to meet their needs. After they passed away,
I heard about Aging in Place remodeling and I earned my certification in 2006. My first job for
this type of work was to remodel my cousin's home in Richmond. He was paralyzed many years ago
in an auto accident. I look forward to more CAPS projects, making people with disability or aging
challenges remain independent in their homes.
